Harrow Carers

Harrow Carers is an independent charity and has been the lead carers support agency in Harrow since 1996. Harrow Carers recognises the significant contribution that carers make to their family, friends and society and works to support unpaid carers in Harrow and the surrounding areas to enable them to reduce the burden of caring and increase their quality of life.

The beneficiaries of Harrow Carers are unpaid carers of all ages and backgrounds within Harrow and the surrounding areas. The carers supported are often disadvantaged due to isolation and reduced social contact, restrictions on their ability to get and retain employment, reduced educational opportunities, reduced income and increased financial demands due to having to pay for care related costs.

Funding from Postcode Innovation Trust will be used to acquire a local social care company, which will enable Harrow Carers to become more financially resilient and sustainable. It will enable them to expand the provision of support for more carers and to reach many of the hidden carers in the community. They currently support around 4,000 carers per year and this acquisition will help them to support a further 2,500 in 3 years by growing the capacity of their Homecare service.
