CERT offers practical support to the Social Enterprise, Voluntary and Community sectors and aims to support and guide organisations through whatever challenges they face in managing and delivering their services. This includes helping to register a company or charity, business planning, financial planning feasibility studies and employment and legislation guidance.
For more established organisations they identify and access social investment, help to apply for contracts and tenders, financial planning, marketing, community share issues and assistance with large capital projects such as building acquisition and community asset transfers.
They work through one-to -one mentoring, workshops and networking events as well as arranging “seeing is believing visits” to successful enterprises.
CERT also work with individuals, offering first step capacity building, through NVQs and up to Institute of Leadership and Management qualifications. They also train trainers. CERT's aim is to be able to work seamlessly with individuals and organisations at what-ever their stage of development through to an advanced level.
The programme funded by the Postcode Innovation Trust will work with start-up and established social enterprises as well as VCSE organisations exploring enterprise as a route to develop sustainable income streams.
Start-Up activities will include business planning, financial planning, social return on investment forecasting, links to social investment, legal structures and training.
Growth and consolidation activities will include social return on investment, strategic planning, HR, social investment readiness, links to investment, revenue development, marketing, management and leadership and training.
CERT will work intensively with 30 enterprises a year offering a range of support from advice and guidance, through one to one intensive mentoring and through workshops and training and development activities.
